Description
In May 1998, at the fifty-third Assembly of Religious Superiors General in Ariccia, Fr Peter-Hans Kolvenbach addressed the topic of “Consecrated Life as a Way to Inculturation.” He affirms that the Christian message is accessible to all cultures, and that it has to be proposed in a culturally sensitive way. No culture has a monopoly on the Christian message and way of life. All cultures have transcendental elements, which must be appreciated as signs of the Spirit. He notes that, although we cannot evangelize cultures, the Spirit moves us to evangelize people within their cultures. Cultures are always in flux. We can only really access the gospel fully through our own cultures.
